A Bass Library with "That" Sound

For years, I've wanted an electric bass sample library that has "that" sound. You know, the sound you know from all those records that you've had on loop at one time or another. One of those sounds that my bassist friends are often striving for. I never could seem to find it in a sample library. Most sampled electric basses conjure an image of a guy with the guitar strap loosed and the bass at his knees, maybe a stadium full of people out in front of him. And while that's certainly "a" sound, that is never the sound I'm hearing in my head.

An extension of our efforts into JB-145: Archtop Guitar, the transition to electric bass was an obvious move. We'd been talking about a "fender bass" library for a long time. "Fender bass" is a kind of old-school name for the electric bass; before that, "bass" meant acoustic upright bass. Then along comes Leo Fender and hence the "fender bass." Listen to some interviews or books by mid-century arrangers, session musicians and producers, and you'll definitely hear them refer to the "fender bass."
So that was the aim with FB-64: Electric Bass. An instrument that would sound at home in jazz, soul, latin music, rock n' roll, funk, and really anything 50's, 60's or 70's. A P-bass but with a bridge pickup as well, so you can get that J-bass sound too. Flatwound strings. Performed by a seasoned pro. Samples, as always, extracted from real performances and intelligently selected by our Smart Delay Engine based on the phrases you play.
